Ascott Thailand  partnered with iCare Thailand Foundation in a drive to support the students at Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School

CapitaLand Limited’s wholly owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) in partnership with iCare Thailand Foundation (iCare) once again came forward to spread joy to the less fortunate students at ‘Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School’, a remote hill-tribe school located in Chiang Rai province, Northern Thailand.

This expedition trip is a fruitful result of Ascott Thailand’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts throughout the year via various charitable activities and profitable fundraising campaigns including the successful ‘1st Ascott Charity Run’ held in October 2016.

Together with the support from CHF and iCare, besides gift giving this year project has been delivering assistance on a much larger scale such as installing new water tanks, upgrading & painting classrooms and boys’ dormitory.

During the 2-day volunteer work, the volunteers’ team led by Mr Jean Keijdener, Ascott’s Country General Manager for Thailand together with Mrs Myla Caceres, Ascott’s Director of Sales and Marketing for Thailand also helped serving lunch and ice-cream as well as celebrating Christmas with the students. Hundreds of donated toys and gifts collected from staff and residents of Ascott properties in Thailand were handed to each and every kid, bringing brighter smile and joy to Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School in the season of giving. The big surprise was the mini-concert by well-known Thai country singer Mr. Jonas Anderson who volunteered to join the expedition with Ascott.

All volunteers also had a chance to visit 30 families in the villages around the school to deliver goodie-bags to their homes. Each bag contains food supplies and blankets for use throughout the cold season.

Ascott Thailand has been supporting Doi Wiangpha Pittaya School since 2014. The school is one of a Thai government schools located within the Golden Triangle area of Northern Thailand. The school provides education to students from kindergarten up to 9th Grade.
