The Akha people, who live in the hills of Chiang Rai, celebrate their annual Swing Festival this month and preparing to treat visitors with tribal dance and music. There are some 80,000 Akha people in Thailand; other groups are in Myanmar, Laos, and Yunnan, China.
The swing festival takes place on different days in all these Akha villages. It is fertility festival conducted to ensure a good harvest for these hilltribe people, one of the many hilltribes scattered around Thailand.
