    What: Asalha Puja is a Dharma Day that is of the utmost importance to Buddhism. It is also one the most celebrated festivals during the year. Every full moon of the eight lunar month, Buddhists visit the temple near them to celebrate the day that Buddha gave his first sermon. Following Lent Day (Khao Phansa Day), Candle Processions – the biggest of which occurs in Ubon Ratchathani where the locals show off their best carved candles in a 15m-long float, a beauty contest, pray to Prathat Phanom, and offer alms to monks — this colorful, holy and traditional celebration is an attraction for both locals and foreigners.
