The Indian wedding industry in Thailand has grown rapidly over the past few years with more and more families from India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, The UK, Canada and the USA hosting their week-long wedding celebrations within our Kingdom. For the past four years, the annual Masala Indian Wedding Fair has been instrumental in promoting Indian weddings as well as Indian culture to everyone.
This year, the Masala Wedding Fair, now in its 5th edition, will be inaugurated by H.E Mr. Bhagwant Singh Bishnoi, Ambassador of India to Thailand, and Mr. Thomas Schmelter, General Manager of the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok. The event will be held June 11-12, 2016, in the Grand Ballroom of the InterContinental Hotel Bangkok.
Indian Weddings in Thailand
Until recently the misconception held by many families coming to get married in Thailand was that container loads of equipment, armies of cooks, and any number of assorted helping hands would have to be brought along as well – all of which would drive up the cost of their destination wedding. But this misconception has been changing over the past few years, and the annual Masala Indian Wedding Fair, has helped alter those preconceived notions.
By showcasing the fact that everything needed to successfully manage a large scale Indian wedding can be found right here in Thailand, and assembling it all under one roof, the annual Masala Indian Wedding Fair has become a convenient one-stop sourcing experience for both families planning destination weddings and wedding planners alike. From selecting the right property in the destination of choice, or contacting outside catering services, to finding the right photographers, make-up artists, light and sound crews, transportation services, or even beverage suppliers – it can all be accomplished during the annual Masala Wedding Fair.
About the Masala Wedding Fair
This year’s wedding fair, to be held over the weekend of June 11th to 12th at Bangkok’s centrally located InterContinental Hotel, will showcase close to 80 exhibitors and is expected to welcome approximately 3,000 visitors. This 2-day event is the ideal venue for anyone wanting to organise a destination wedding in Thailand, as well as for those attending weddings and are in need of jewellery, gifts, Indian formal and informal wear, and more. It is also the perfect opportunity for the general public to enjoy experiencing Indian culture, food and knick-knack shopping.
As in years past, a Kid’s Corner will be set up so that families attending can make it into a fun-filled weekend excursion. For the first time ever, Masala will also be hosting an exclusive fashion show featuring luxury Indian designers and jewellery. Everyone is invited to attend the fair and admission is free.
