Trang province, in the deep south of Thailand, celebrates love with a wedding — as in most places – but with a more adventurous twist. They do it underwater!

Many people dream of a beach wedding but others give theirs a more adventurous twist: they say “I do” underwater – by joining in the now annual “Trang Underwater Wedding” ceremony.
Trang’s Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Authority of Thailand office in the municipality, other local authorities, and the local private sector are joining hands to launch the “Trang’s Underwater Wedding Ceremony” this year. The big wedding event, now marking its 20th anniversary, is usually held during the Valentine’s period.
Trang, known for its picturesque valleys, limestone stalactites and stalagmites, and waterfalls and limestone caves, undoubtedly creates a romantic atmosphere for the soon-to-be husbands and wives, and it fits perfectly with the concept of “Moment of Love @Underwater Trang Station.” The spectacular province successfully showcases its charms through this event, which also helps in promoting both local and international tourism opportunities.
The main venue for this year’s event is Thumrin Thana Hotel, where couples will gather for check-in and then visit some of Trang’s most famous attractions: Princess Srinakarin Park 95, Kuk Ming-Lum Phyra Cake Shop, and Dugong Fountain and Trang Clock Tower.
The first night ends with a traditional welcome dinner called “Kin-Neow,” and the name of this ritual in the Southern Thai dialect translates to “wedding dinner.”
The big wedding day will take place on Feb. 13, during which time couples are taken from the Pak Meng Pier to the station located 18m-deep underwater at Koh Waen, where they will exchange vows and a bubbly kiss.
Many couples then continue this amazing experience at the Anantara Si Kao Resort and Spa where they can enjoy a beautiful sunset on the beach. There is also a fireworks display while couples watch a video footage of the ceremony. Other romantic activities are also available for the lovebirds. The wedding registration is legally binding and their vows are said during the evening.
Waking up on Valentine’s Day the couples then start their love journey together leaving Trang’s wonderful blue sea and sky as newlyweds.
Since its inception a few years ago, this special underwater ceremony has made Trang an acclaimed romantic destination where couples can not only exchange vows but also enjoy a fantastic honeymoon afterwards.
