Compass Hospitality to manage Oxford hotel

/  HOTELS   /  Compass Hospitality to manage Oxford hotel

Effective 1 February 2016, Asia based Compass Hospitality Group has signed up to manage the historic Hawkwell House Hotel located in the conservation designated Iffley Village in the City of Oxford.  As part of Cotswolds region, the hotel enjoys a picturesque setting in South Central England with rolling hills that rise from upper River Thames.

Hawkwell House View From GardenWithin 3 acres of landscaped grounds, the hotel has 77 guestrooms and suites in the main hotel building as well as in the adjacent Elm House which was once the home of Antarctic explorer Francis Bickerton and now, the choice of hideaway for large families and groups of friends as well as for companies hosting seminars and corporate retreats.

Decorated in English designs, the guestrooms and suites are charming and reminiscent of English country homes.  Outside, the hotel grounds and the neighborhood of stone and brick houses along tree-lined streets evoke a sense of tranquility and gracious living.

At Iffley Blue Restaurant, the choice of British local favourites, pizzas and Oxfordshire signature dishes has been the cuisine highlights at the hotel.  In the afternoons, traditional English afternoon tea service is enjoyed indoors and outdoors.  At night, the restaurant hosts guests and nearby residents to evenings of dining and socializing.

Restaurant2Four meeting facilities cater from 10 to 200 persons, offering premises for Boardroom meetings to wedding receptions.  An expansive lawn has been the mainstay of the hotel’s celebrated outdoor weddings as the hotel numbers as one of few licensed venues in Oxfordshire to hold civil ceremonies.

The world renowned University of Oxford, colleges and libraries are located about 15 minutes’ away by car from the hotel.  The medieval buildings, many in use since the Middles Ages, are as much tourist attractions as they are for the scholastic achievements of graduates and scholars passing through their doors.  Shopping and entertainment abound in Oxford with the enchanting Covered Market; high-street shopping in Oxford City Centre, Westgate Centre, Clarendon Centre as well as in countryside Bicester Village; and the 160-acre Cotswold Wildlife Park.

Hawkwell House Hotel is the 7th hotel in UK to be managed by Compass Hospitality.  This follows the Group’s management of The Lion Hotel Shrewsbury and The White Swan Halifax in April 2015,
