Hooters, the famed American restaurant franchise that features stellar chicken wings and other fried comfort foods served by pretty waitresses in cute outfits, has arrived in Bangkok. In a town where short skirts, partying, and heading out for a night of food and drinks with friends are the norm, Hooters should have no problem fitting right in and is a welcome addition to the Sukhumvit food, beverage, and nightlife scene.
The restaurant and bar (Tel: 02 006 6001-3; www.hootersbangkok.com) takes over the space that has been vacated by the former Beer Vault in the Four Points by Sheraton on Sukhumvit Soi 15, and adds a lot of life to what was once a more austere spot. The two-level space features an island bar that’s home to a full party dining scene, along with extra-large HD television screens that show all the latest sporting events.
The fabled restaurant recently celebrated its Bangkok launch, hosting a large party that featured its Thailand Brand Ambassador and noted model and actress, Aum Lukkana Tattanawongsiri, with DJ beats, and a smiling bevy of Hooter cheerleaders keeping the crowd happy. The Sukhumvit opening is part of an ambitious Hooter launch across Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia, after a branch opened in Phuket in May, a Pattaya franchise all set to open its doors in December, and a Samui outlet hot on its heels in January.
There are also plans for a Silom venue in Bangkok and Hooters Asia, which is franchised by the well-known Destination Resorts Co., Ltd., and has its sights set on eventual branches in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and other countries across the region.
While the chicken wings are a crowd pleaser – coming with a variety of signature sauces like chipotle honey, parmesan-garlic, or Cajun to name but a few – there are plenty of other selections to opt for on the menu. There are large Texas burgers with cheddar cheese, bacon, and Daytona sauce, as well as Philly cheese steaks served on French baguettes with Provolone cheese. “Hooterstizers” make up the brunt of the menu, with selections like cheese quesadillas, chili cheese nachos, and beef or buffalo chicken sliders to accompany all those pints of good beer and tasty margaritas.
The restaurant features a dazzling selection of nightly specials at the moment, making it all the more enticing to come in.
There are all you can eat ribs and a pint of beer for THB 799 on Tuesdays, two for one margaritas on Wednesdays plus all you can eat chicken wings for THB 599, and Fridays feature all you can eat fish and chips for THB 799, plus two for one on all shots from 11 p.m. until midnight.
While the fit and charismatic ladies manning the bar serve up plenty of cheer and eye candy, the big screen events will also draw in the punters and expats.
Starting off with the Rugby World Cup 2015, Hooters offers a buy two get one free deal on Singha and Asahi beers. Keep your eyes peeled to their Facebook page for more upcoming promotions and specials.
