    National Events and Festivals

    Hua Hin Golf Festival
    What: Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces, and the Phetchaburi-PrachuapKhiri Khan Golf Course Association, this is an annual event that provides a valuable boost not only to the golf industry but also to the tourism businesses in the region.

    The Akha Swing Festival
    What: The Akha hill tribes believe that they came down from God through a swing. Thus, this celebration. The swing is built by an elder called a Dzoeuh Mah, and is used for four days, then the braided vine rope is wrapped around one of the four very long legs and the swing is left until its rebuilt the next year.

    Trang Moon Festival
    Sept 27
    What: A ceremony is held in late September or early October on the full moon day in the eighth month under the Chinese calendar in Thung Yao Sub-district, Palian District, where many people of Chinese ancestry reside.

    Long-tailed Boat Race
    2-int swan boatWhat: Long-boats of all sizes from all over the country compete for His Majesty’s Trophy in this annual competition held at the end of the Buddhist Lent. This is one of the biggest boat races in the country.

    Pa Sak Boat Races
    What: Another major annual regatta that takes place on the last Saturday or Sunday of September. Famous boats from all over the country join in the race.

    Phichit Boat Races
    What: A longboat competition held in one of the country’s most scenic backdrops. The event is also marked with a boat procession and various kinds of cultural shows, music performances as well as OTOP fair and local product sales.

    Surf Competition
    What: Surfing is becoming a big sport in Phuket and the Quicksilver Thailand Surf Competition continues to grow in popularity. Expect a high level of activities including beach parties, live music and of course action packed wave riding.

    River Kwai Half Marathon
    What: This event attracts participants from Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA, Europe, and other countries. They race from the River Kwai Village Hotel and run along Highway 323 (Sai Yok-Thong Pha Phoom) and back.

    Trang Roast Pork Festival
    What: The Trang Roast Pork Festival celebrates a very special local delicacy. Locals recommend that visitors to their province try this specialty when they are in town.
