Sanpellegrino brings Three Michelin-Star Chef Umberto BOMBANA to Bangkok for Masterclass on The Art of Pairing Water, Wine & Food
Bangkok: S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna mineral waters, synonymous for their affiliation with fine dining around the world, will be holding a Masterclass on the art of pairing water wine and food at The Sukhothai Bangkok on September 9th, 2015. Sanpellegrino initiated the Masterclass series to educate people about the unique taste and characteristics of S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna mineral waters, and how harmonizing water, wine and fine cuisines can further enhance the dining experience. The session will also feature a culinary showcase by Chef Umberto BOMBANA – owner of the renowned Three Michelin-star Italian restaurant 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA, Hong Kong.
Hailed as “The King of White Truffles”, Chef BOMBANA delights the palates of the world’s epicureans with his simple, refined yet regional Italian cooking. With the chef’s distinctive flair and passion for northern Italian cooking, his restaurant – 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA – has become the first and only Italian restaurant outside Italy to be honored with three Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau for the fourth consecutive years in 2015. Chef BOMBANA will be featuring some of his signature creations at the Masterclass, and attendees can expect an interactive, refreshing and educational session.
Gourmands will be surprised by the difference quality mineral waters such as S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna brings to every epicurean experience. Due to their unique origin and characteristics, these mineral waters cleanse the palate, allowing the flavours of food and wine to emerge fully. Acqua Panna, which is soft, balanced and light, is perfectly matched with simple wines that have a light and smooth tone such as fresh, fruity white and sparkling wines. S.Pellegrino on the other hand is full of freshness, salinity and fragrance and therefore better suited to fragrant wines with a stronger structure such as full-bodied mature red and white wines. Water and food also enhance and complete each other. Water cleanses the palate and prepares it for the following mouthful. Generally, complex dishes that are rich in aromas and flavours such as sweet and spicy food, are best matched with S.Pellegrino. Dishes that are simple and natural and dominated by salty, sour or oily flavours are best matched with Acqua Panna.
As an extension of the Masterclass, The Sukhothai Bangkok, the 5-star hotel that is a true luxury in this bustling metropolis, is also hosting two dinners by Chef BOMBANA on the 8th and 9th September, 7.00pm at LA SCALA restaurant. The seven-course degustation dinner will be on sales at ฿7000++ (food only) and ฿9200++(food & wine) to the general public.
