My favorite place: Chiang Mai
Bring there: No matter the season, do not forget a sweater: it might be very hot in town, but it will be cold in the mountains!
Must-do: Rent a scooter to discover Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep in the hills, see the orchids at Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, and explore the amazing surroundings.
Don’t do: Elephant shows can be really weird…
Must-see: Peaceful Wat Ched Yod and numerous temples all around the city.
Must-buy: Funny, decorative or design stuff from the night bazaar.
Eat at: Fresh, tasty, and typical food can be found at the night market near Chiang Mai Gate.
Drink at: “The Riverside, a nice place along the banks of the Ping River. You should go there after having lunch, to enjoy a beer, while listening to a live Thai-rock concert and you can meet Thais as well as international people!
Sleep at: Good central location, basic comfort but very clean and inexpensive, I loved “Baan Jaja Guesthouse.” It serves a good breakfast that includes fresh local fruits and delicious pastries.
