Zeppelin, a new sky bar on Sukhumvit, is giving a different view of the city’s skyline.

Looking for an affordable rooftop bar and restaurant? That is the key concept of Zeppelin (1595/500 45-46 Floor Luk Condominium, B Tower Sukhumvit Road, Phra Khanong, 02 116 4452, www.facebook.com/Zeppelinbarandrestuarant), a new sky bar located on the 46th floor, a few minutes away from Phra Khanong BTS station (exit 3).
Stepping inside Zeppelin, we were welcomed by easy jazz music and wowed by the ambience. Decorated in four themes, Zeppelin presents you with the Engine Room, a wine cellar-style bar; Monte Bianco, a charming dining room; Bivouac, romantic outdoor beds perfect for couples (not yet open at the time of review); and Sky Scrape, a spacious outdoor area with comfy couches. The Sky Scrape highlights a glass path that gives a breath-taking look down 45 floors below, daring you to walk over.
But Zeppelin is not just another rooftop bar. It actually allows you to see Bangkok from a different vantage point, as its location is farther from the heart of the city. From the 46th floor, instead of being blocked by other high-rise buildings, you will find a beautiful 360-degree view of Bangkok and look at the city from a distance.
In addition to a great ambience, Zeppelin also offers a fine variety in their menu, primarily Mediterranean and Thai, with Australian steak, poultry, seafood, and pasta dishes, among others. We started with the niçoise salad (THB 190) and slow-roasted duck breast and mashed potato cassis raspberry sauce (THB 390). The highlight of the night was the tiger prawn with garlic parsley sauté vegetable bacon curry sauce (THB 430). The fresh prawn was nicely grilled and well seasoned with a combination of curry powder, garlic, and ginger made into a sauce that goes perfectly with the prawns.
Fancy some drinks? Zeppelin offers bottles of wine starting from less than THB 2,000, and a number of cocktails ranging between THB 300 and THB 400.
Opened since January 2014, Zeppelin has yet to launch a grand opening, as the staff is eager to perfect everything before doing so. But there is one thing that doesn’t need any perfecting: the experience of enjoying delicious food and drinks with the city view from this airship.
Open daily from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Reservations recommended on Fridays and Saturdays.
